September Katmai Bears Highlights Part 2- Fishing Action

By Brad Josephs · On October 16, 2022

It was another incredible September for bear photography on the Katmai Coast. The fish run was poor due to low numbers of chum and pink salmon, but there was enough to keep the bears well fed and busy. Here are some image highlights. I love September for the low angle sunlight, the bears look so beautiful with their winter coats, and the fall foliage adds mood and color to the backgrounds.

Big beautiful bear with winter coat, low angle sunlight, and late summer foliage make September an excellent month.

This is one of my favorite shots of the summer. A huge male catches salmon right in front of our small group.

I love photographing fishing action in backlight.

Keep Exploring! Brad
