Tune In March 17 For My Namibia Webinar!

By Brad Josephs · On March 16, 2020

I have done three posts recently on the Namibia Photo Safari I co-led in November. Click here to see them. I was so taken by the wildlife, landscapes, people and photography opportunities, that I want to share even more of my passion for this magical frontier by doing a webinar tomorrow. Click here to register. There will a special focus on the amazing conservation efforts and success stories that I learned about and fell in love with at the 3 locations we visited.

Webinars are a great way to hear from the guides, who know the destinations the best of anyone, or to just learn about the location, wildlife, conservation efforts that our Nathab trips support. The webinar will be available on youtube in the future if you cant see it live.

Desert elephants fell from a population of over 150 to around 30 from 1975 until the early 80’s during the Namibian War of Independence. Their numbers have since risen slightly and stabilized, and their future is helped greatly by the efforts of the Desert Elephant Conversation project, and Dr Brown and Dr. Ramy. Wildlife ecotourism supports this project directly.

Private game reserves, such as Ongava Lodge, are the best, most well protected refugees for black and white rhinos, which face tremendous pressure from poaching.

Brown hyenas are critically endangered and misunderstood. Conservationist Emsie Verwey has been doing some of the first groundbreaking research on these animals while based out of Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp, which we visited on this trip.

Private game concessions, such as Hoanib River, are one of the most important habitats for the critically endangered desert lions of the Skeleton Coast.

Stunning wildlife and amazing desert scenery….

NHA guide Abner Simeon has his game face on, trying to locate a honey badger!

A lone oryx traverses the desert from a manmade waterhole to browse on scrub. There has been a severe 6 year drought in all of Namibia, and many of these animals are reaching their limit of endurance.

Namibia…. what a place.

Keep exploring!

Brad!
